Audere est facere. That’s right. Do you know what I am talking about? In case you didn’t have the pleasure (or slight misery) of studying Latin, it means “To dare is to do”. To dare is not to dream, but to live those dreams. It sounds like something that you read while scrolling through Facebook this morning, doesn’t it? Something easily said, pretty looking, and mildly motivating. Finding the source of what truly inspires you to dare is the difficult part of the equation. It asks you to look inside, take those Instagram screenshots and make them part of who you are and who you want to become. A big part of what inspires me to dare, to take risks or simply to let my own voice be free and grow is the way I dress. Fashion offers the chance to not only explore your own sense of creativity, but also to step out of your comfort zone and let the clothes be your motivation to dare.
This week’s look is all about going a little bit further, daring to embrace unconventionality and making it my own. I decided to go all out in the mixing and matching department and paired a deep plunge mesh dress by one of my favourite Australian’s designers with an incredibly soft and loose fitting jacket by one of my favourite local names. The contrast of a sharp, bold and fitting assemble by Bec & Bridge together with the cosy and effortless look of the jacket by Coop seemed to work together seamlessly for me.
What do you think of this look? I hope you love the balance of daring and laid-back elements as much as I do.
Finally, I highly encourage you to take a look at this talk for a realistic, down-to-earth and humorous approach on why it is absolutely essential to your well-being, your sense of satisfaction and gratitude that you do dare to live your dreams, no matter how big, small, hard, or easy they are.
