Look of the Week – Leather and Silk
Brr, it’s cold out. Just when I got used to the Indonesian heat, I stepped off a plane into the apparent warmth of New Zealand ‘spring’, which doesn’t quite feel like spring just yet. This morning, I also came to realise that riding a scooter on tidy and chilly New Zealand streets may not be quite as much fun as doing so in shorts and a bikini top alongside white sand beaches and 15000+ other scooter riders. Other than that, thanks for having me back NZ! :) What a lucky girl I am to return home to a country triumphing most fellow traveller’s bucket lists.
One of the things that got me through riding around town today was a beautiful, edgy, and comfortable leather jacket like the one featured in today’s fashion post. A well-made leather jacket can lend the perfect sharpness to any outfit. Classic cuts are not just made to go with denim and boots. Instead, they are ideal for rounding off straightforward and romantic looks, adding originality, detail, and just the right amount of effortlessness.
Traditionally a luxury trade for women only, silk symbolises ultimate elegance and comfort. This New Zealand made silk piece felt as though it became one with my skin and didn’t need much else to go with. In fact, if it weren’t raining torrentially that day, I would have most likely shot it barefoot on the beach. The location I ended up finding, though, was so beautifully rich in colour and detail that I felt like adding something more contrasting to the look. A pony hair clutch, the above-mentioned leather jacket and some simple leather-detailed heels were the perfect finds.
