Fashion is best served in layered combos. We’re approaching autumn* and this new-season energy is all about re-inventing what we already know. Play an ode to the art of textural layering, throw in some subtle masculinity and make it all look wearable and unflustered. In other words, earn some serious fashion points by teaming up power-pieces with laid-back favourites; dresses with tailored trousers; lace with leather; you know the drill. You see, fashion tells stories and today’s story is about teamwork. Let your clothes work together and create magic. As Alan Watts said,
Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth.
So here is to finding new spirit in our daily fabrics. Experiment and – every once in a while – beat the well-worn path of jeans and top combos. Give it some time and it will all make sense.
Ps. Oh, and don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers. Especially when they’re as gigantic and gorgeous as the one’s I found at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
